Carroll County This Week

My apologies for not having a weekly report of county issues for the last couple of weeks.
However, the news media has been very professional in updates concerning flooding, FEMA, ADEM, damages to homes, flood insurance and a list of other topics that have highlighted the disasters of Carroll County. Life is starting to return to a degree of normal.
At the road department, with sunshine the norm lately, reconstruction of the damaged roads and water crossings is progressing. Thanks to all who have been patient during these last weeks of turmoil. In the next few weeks, anticipated funds from FEMA should arrive and the influx of this monetary aid will be a positive impact to increasing rehabilitation of our county roads.
Also, if anyone experienced personal damage to your home or business, please make contact and file a claim that if the Flood Insurance Program is passed in Carroll County, you will not loose your eligibility. Remember, there is a limited time period to file from the date of the incident.
Speed limits are being posted on the roads of Carroll County and the Sheriff's Department is enforcing the law. The purpose is not to ticket someone for the money the fines create; but, for the safety of both the vehicle operator and others on our roadways…most of the county roads are not designed for excess speeds…too narrow and the curves!
Friday, May 16th will be the next scheduled Quorum Court meeting at 10 a.m. in the Berryville Courthouse. Some of the items on the agenda will be reports concerning the National Flood Insurance Program, update on the year to date Road Department budget, appropriation ordinance for 911/Central Dispatch and other issues of county business. If you have the time this is a great opportunity to view the legislative level of your County Government in action…Friday, May 16th, 10 a.m.
Again, thank you for your patience during the last few weeks from your County Road Department. Drive safety and remember the posted speed limits. |
