This Week in Carroll County
Posted Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at 8:46 AM<< Previous | Respond | Email link | Next >>
This has started as a wet weather week; however, the road department is proceeding with a positive attitude in maintaining our county roads.
Results of last Friday's Quorum Court meeting closed the issue of a vote against Carroll County participating in the National Flood Insurance Program by a large margin.
Another program that is available to residents of Arkansas is the 2-1-1 phone service. One of the major benefits is the reduction of non-emergency calls made to 911. 2-1-1 is a toll free service for information concerning basic needs, physical and mental health resources, employment support and almost any inquiry other than emergency. When you dial this service, your call will be directed to a live person to answer your questions, 7 days a week 24 hours a day. For complete information go to www.arkansas211.org. Please utilize this service rather than 911 for your non-emergency calls.
This Saturday, June 21st, at Wal-Mart in Berryville, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. will be "Safety Day". Please attend as emergency service providers (law enforcement, fire, ambulance and others) will be presenting their equipment and skills. This is an opportunity to get right up close, and, if you like, ask questions of how items operate. Come out and show your support… a lot of these individuals are totally volunteers, you might want to join! Again, Saturday 10 a.m., Wal-Mart in Berryville.
In closing, please drive carefully, watch your speedometer and remember to use your turn signal when changing lanes. |
