If you original Gaskins Switch groupies lost track of someone at the reunion concert and thought you could spot them in the crowd by their gray hair, the joke's on you. (Are we getting old or what?) I must say, though, little LeRoy can still sure blow harp. ...And the whole posse pulled out all the stops on its road to "eternal boogie." ...What a party, eh?

This just in from the Things that make you say, "Hmmmm" Department: while Walmart is regrouping and looking for a better site in Eureka Springs, I'm wondering why Green Forest wasn't on their agenda instead. ...After all, GF had about a thousand more people than we did in 2009.

Other things that make 'ya wonder... c'mon guys, give Mickey Schneider a break! ...The poor girl simply wanted Planning to schedule a workshop to begin talking about the future of Eureka Springs in a timely manner and couldn't even get a second on her motion. Brad Banaszek gave a good try for discussing a moratorium on formula businesses, too. A motion on setting that date then got shot down by the chair's tie-breaker vote. ...What's going on here?

So, no workshops, no discussion. Public, you'd better get out there and comment at these meetings while it's still allowed by Arkansas State Law. ...Things seem to be leaning away from making the public aware in a timely fashion. The city website being a prime example.

Meanwhile, there are, to the consternation of all thinking folk, still people out there who can't seem to get beyond Walmart when they think "development."

How about this: A committee of forward thinkers, the sole purpose of which is to explore what kind of development would bring prosperity to town and jive with our tourism industry and the city vision plan. ...Oh wait, what was that plan, again?
