Folk Fest Folks

We do pretty well for a small town. Faith Christian Church raised $18,000 for UPS guy Robbie Frieburger and his family at their spaghetti dinner and auction last month in our town of about 2,000 people. Compare that to $24,000 raised at Crossroads Community Church in Harrison, with a population of 36,000. That's about $.66 per person for Harrison and $9 per person in Eureka Springs. ...But who's counting? Okay, so some of us don't have enough to do.

Here's proof: I've discovered the original Eureka Springs -- here they are: (see photo above)

Did anyone else feel like Folk Festival Weekend had more enthusiastic support this year? And those Queen Contest speeches -- impressive. My opinion of teen females stands corrected. Even the "occupiers" took part in the short and sweet parade, including Anita the grandma Activist.

Easy now, Anita, we don't want to waste Citizen petty cash bailing you out of jail.

The Quarter looks lonely now that the Lovin' Oven is closed. I hear the bye-bye party was a smash though. ...

Heather apparently emptied the pastry case and a good munch was had by all. ...That case has seen a lot of pound-producing goodies over the years, even before the time of the Little Bread Company. ...Haven't seen any of those die-hard coffee drinkers out on the deck in the morning yet. Maybe the town's breakfast spots should have a raffle to see who gets them.
