Blimey, is the spare in the boot?Posted Thursday, May 17, 2012, at 4:52 PM
Okay, okay, T.G., I have taken my chill pill as you suggested, and am not picking on new wait staff who are "eager to please" me. ... Of course, pleasing me includes not asking if I'm doin' okay every five seconds ... because by that time ... I'm not. At least the mayor knows how to have some fun. ... I heard he laid down some good chops on Hotel California for the Brits in the Enduro Rally up in the Basin Park bar Sunday night. ... By the way, did anybody get a look at those cars? I heard C.D. and Chip Ford were down there pestering everyone in the parking lot. They apparently missed my bud Anna standing in the bushes watching them from the street above. ... There was a 1927 Bentley Le Mans that did the Peking to Paris rally. Now, it's a bit of a strain on the 'ol geography section hidden away under layers of brain tissue, but I imagine that route had to be a hellofa rough go, especially on the worst roads (or lack thereof) possible (hence the endurance part of the deal). ... Gotta hand it to the Ozarks, though. I heard one team made it all the way around the world without changing a tire -- then they hit good ol' arrowhead-quality American gravel ... kinda makes ya proud. Anyhoo, I hope all the drivers from across the pond enjoyed their pit stop in Eureka Springs and didn't get too confused by sights like the picture above. Meanwhile, you can email / don't email me at oliverdeplace@hotmail.com. |
