The beat of a different drum

Posted Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 4:29 PM

Angelo Yao made a pretty good pied piper getting the crowd of art lovers from Basin Spring over to the new Art Wall on Saturday. I guess that would be a pied drummer if you wanted to be specific. ... Anyway, if you haven't checked out the Art Wall, do it before all the panels get sold. ... I hear one got scooped up only an hour after the exhibit opened.

Meanwhile, my sun visor is off to Diane Wilkerson who employed a motivational tool far beyond sweet talking and courtesy to solve a potentially uncomfortable situation between a tourist and the city: a crisp twenty dollar bill. ... Word is, she arrived a little too late to keep the parking lot clear for the arrival of the Art Wall crowd, and one guy had already plunked his five bucks into the pay box. Sweet Diane offered him a twenty to park somewhere else. ... Of course he did.

Speaking of art lovers, how many times did you go back for Peggy Kjelgaard's gin tonic with that nice slice o' lime at 10 White Street on Friday before you discovered it was only tonic water and lime? ... What? It wasn't? ... Oh, well that explains several things I vaguely remember after my 10th loop through her kitchen....

Speaking of loops, get the kids' candy bags ready for the Mustang parade on the Historic Loop on Saturday at two. ... They'll be comin' around the mountain throwing goodies, I assume, so if you missed stocking up on Halloween candy during the ARTrageous parade, here's another chance to get a head start on a stockpile of old lumps of individually-wrapped artificially colored shaped and flavored sugar to re-gift in October to the delight of the kiddies, the horror of parents and the support of Terry Bushay and Ken Covington, DDS-es. ... Hey, a penny saved ...

I'm saving my pennies at oliverdeplace@hotmail.com, in case you want to throw your two cents in.
