Three Thoughts Before Thanksgiving

Posted Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at 8:33 PM

Pepper spraying passive objectors at the University of California -- Davis was so nonchalant. It was as if the cop was spraying garden pests, which it appeared was the way he felt about the students he was torturing with heavy duty grade spay. This is how we treat people who protest in our country these days. "The whole world is watching."

The super committee and congress couldn't come up with any solutions to solve our debt crisis. Half of these people were going to make such a difference when they were elected in 2010. But they, too, have learned how to play the Washington game just like the old timers. They like flaunting their power and getting a high salary plus benefits for the rest of their lives. When they go home for the holidays, they don't have to worry because they've signed the Grover Norquist pledge, and the Tea Party loves them.

The Arkansas Democrat Gazette said not one word, let alone an article, about the Penn State Horror last week. This is what happens when one newspaper controls all the printed media in our state. They can pick and choose what they want to print. The Gazette speaks for our state, so I guess they didn't want to discuss child abuse after we had our own homegrown pedophile, Tony Alamo.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

Unfortunately, Karl Marx may have been right.

I'm Enid. No, not the town in Oklahoma, but a transplant to Eureka Springs from Minneapolis fourteen years ago. I'm a writer, journalist and sometime artist. My real love is expressing my opinions on almost any subject, as you have seen in my many letters to the Editor of The Lovely County Citizen over the years. Now, I'm happy to say that I will be writing a blog titled In a Twist for your amusement, amazement or commiseration. Thanks for giving me a read.
