Take a Big DumpPosted Saturday, December 31, 2011, at 3:20 PM
Pompous political popinjays continue to promise us another election year of hypocrisy and disappointment.
Have we ever seen such a lineup of fools running for the GOP candidacy? Every two weeks, the Republican candidates change places in popularity or quit all together. The latest to drop by the wayside was the GOP's candidate to prove it isn't racist. Herman Cain took the plunge but struggled to stay afloat when he couldn't keep his private life above board for the "family values" party. Last week both Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry found out they will not be on the Virginia primary ballot because they didn't get enough signatures to qualify. For people who are trying to prove how smart they are these candidates don't seem to be able to find their butts in an ass kicking contest. However, if I were a Republican the only guy that seems to have a bit of sense is Jon Huntsman. Of course he's way back in the pack because he doesn't foam at the mouth about "flip flopping" or make claims that an entire race of people was invented. The same old planks are also trotted out for the republican platform every four years. If I didn't know that it was 2012, I would think we were in a time warp and were stuck in 2008 or 2000. The GOP cries over the same spilled milk every cycle. By now that milk is soured beyond its due date. Eliminate all welfare programs, abortion on demand and tax breaks for the working class are the usual fodder to finish off the middle class and the poor. We don't want any give-a-ways in this country, especially if the down trodden might benefit or the Democrat party. After all, everyone knows who receives the majority of votes from the "great unwashed" and it ain't the Republicans. If anything proves we need a viable third party in this country, it's the choices we have for president in 2012. I was a Hilary Clinton fan the last go around, but that was not to be. Barack Obama was my choice if I wanted my vote to count. I had great hopes for him, but that was not to be either. Many of us thinking Democrats can nod our heads and claim that our country would be in much better condition if we had trusted a woman driver. But, at least Obama put Clinton in charge of steering our foreign policy. Now if Obama would have the guts to dump Biden and take on Clinton as his VP, he'd really have a winning ticket. That's if Clinton would have him. However, she might feel like the fat girl at the prom, all dressed up and no place to dance. Well, Happy New Year and may the best hypocrite win. To quote Stephen Hawking, "Our genetic code still carries selfish and aggressive instincts that were of survival advantage in the past. It will be difficult enough to avoid disaster in the next hundred years let alone the next thousand or million."
Unfortunately, our primitive tribal instinct is still with us. For those who are members of the (R) tribe, Fox News is available to confirm that the (R) tribe is the best tribe and that the (D) tribe is the worst tribe. For those who are members of the (D) tribe, MSNBC is available to confirm that the (D) tribe is the best tribe and that the (R) tribe is the worst tribe. That is to say, members of both tribes suffer from the exact same malady. The qualifications and competency of the candidate is of little importance; the main thing being that the right tribe is in charge.
Fortunately we have the soothing effects of organized religion to smooth out the... oh, wait a minute, I almost forgot about the recent priest fights held at the church of the nativity while preparing for Christmas celebrations. It's most fortunate that the Palestinian police were there to stop the fight before the men of God killed each other. Mark Twain wrote of the exact same behavior in The Innocents Abroad published in 1869. Apparently, not much has changed in the last 142 years.
It's starting to look dismal for the survival of the human species.
