What the Pioneer Party is AboutPosted Saturday, January 14, 2012, at 3:25 PM
Last week, I suggested that a new, viable third party in America could be known as the Pioneer Party because it would represent the folks who want to forge ahead with new ideas. Not the "same old, same old" of the Republicans and the Democrats.
The Pioneer Party would be a party of the average and well balanced citizens in this country. It would be a party for the middle class and working stiffs of the USA. It would not matter what your gender, race, religion or ethnic background is, however, here's the caveat. You must be a reasonable person. No extremists will be tolerated. No wing nuts will find a home in the Pioneer Party. The new party would not support policing the world, but would continue to support our military, and not jump into unwarranted wars without the permission of our congress. This does not mean we would become isolationists, since we would continue to have embassies in foreign countries. We just wouldn't have boots on the ground in almost every nation in the world. We might even consider neutrality for a change. It has worked for Sweden and their economy is stable. This alone would save our country a whole wad of money. The big problem would be to win over the military complex and all the munitions lobbyists that support them. The Pioneers would be forceful in backing our currency with precious metals. We simply can't keep printing worthless money backed by other countries. I'm thinking platinum, gold, silver and copper. This party would stand for equitable taxes. The middle class and poor would get a break across the board, but the wealthy would pay their REAL fair share for a change. The Pioneer Party would push for a one time, six year term for the office of the Presidency. That would mean that he or she only gets one chance to make a difference as commander in chief. There would be no dithering around in the first four years, while campaigning for his or her next four years. A six year term President would have to get on the pot and piss or get off. This party would also support term limits on its Senators and Representatives. There would be no more career statesmen, because that's what causes the "same old, same old" that bogs down the government moving forward. The Pioneer Party stands for forward movement. This party would attract candidates who want to really listen to the average citizens of this country and work hard to represent them. She or he will not be the type of politician that will promise anything for a vote. These candidates will not worry about flip-flopping because rational people do change their minds from time to time. It just means they are willing to consider new information and not be block headed. And finally, social issues which are mostly based on religious grounds must not be part of federal or state governance. These would include abortion rights, school prayer, birth control and etc. The Pioneer Party believes in the iron clad wall between religion and state. In closing, the Pioneer Party holds the following statement of Thomas Jefferson's to be one of its most important credos. "Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God... I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between church and state." |
