Religion vs. Genealogy

Here's something to think about if you are campaigning for Mitt Romney as the Republican candidate.

Romney has relatives who live in Mexico. He and his American family don't seem to be close to the kin south of the border, but they could pose a problem if he is elected president.

Romney's Mexican family lives in northern Mexico near many of the infamous drug cartels. What would happen if those drug lords decide to take a member or members of Romney's family hostage?

A maneuver such as this would certainly put tremendous pressure on our government's international diplomacy and our country's "War on Drugs". Extortion would be the name of the game. What would be the ransom?

Certainly we have had citizens held captive on many occasions in the past. During one crisis, which lasted over 400 days, President Jimmy Carter was hamstrung by Iran thus losing his mandate for a second term.

However, can you imagine what would happen if a member or members of our president's family was held hostage? I can't. For all intents and purposes our whole nation would be held hostage.

Even if Romney isn't close to his Mexican family, he would need to demonstrate some concern for their safety. Would we have to go to war with Mexico to free his family? Do we really want a president with those kinds of vulnerabilities?

Romney's religion looks like pretty small potatoes compared to the scenario mentioned above, doesn't it?

Give it some thought, Republicans.

In 1857 the bulk of the US Army was sent from Fort Leavenworth to Utah to put down Mormon rebellion and stop Mormon attacks on emigrant trains. Another strategic goal of this expedition was to eliminate the practice of polygamy. Fast forward to the 2000s and the Mormons spend millions to fight same-sex marriage. Sounds like a case of "sour grapes" to me.

An interesting tidbit...

Why does Mitt Romney have so many relatives in Mexico? Well, they settled there because polygamy was not illegal... and is still pretty much ignored today.

See Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pratt%E2%80...

This is Mitt's Great-Grandfather:

Helaman Pratt (1846-1909) was born outside Mt. Pisgah, Iowa, on May 31, 1846, the son of Parley P. Pratt and fourth wife Mary Wood. He married 1874 to second wife Anna Johanna Dorothy (Dora) Wilcken, and was father of Anna Amelia Pratt (who married Gaskell Romney). He had three wives, marrying first wife Emeline Victoria Billingsley Pratt when she was sixteen. He was part of group of polygamous Mormons who fled the United States because of the federal government's opposition to polygamy,[4] and would serve as president of the Mexican mission in Mexico City before moving to the state of Chihuahua.

Willard Romney actually believes that the founder of his religion was guided by angels to magic golden tablets buried in the forest. Once there, he dug up the tablets and then proceeded to translate the hieroglyphics into English. Of course the magic tablets are now unavailable for examination. Hmmm -- this sounds similar to another such fable. At any rate, a person naive enough to believe in such things really wouldn't be my first choice for the commander-in-chief of a nuclear armed nation. Think Armageddon and self-fulfilling prophecies.

The least that will happen is that a couple of street punks will hang them headless from a bridge just to show they can.

"For nearly three years, I have been privileged to work closely with many of the most ruthless organizations to the south of our border. I am extremely proud of our record of abuse, fraud, waste, misconduct, and treason. I pledge a continuation of all such policies that will further weaken our national security and compromise all honest efforts of law enforcement."

- Attorney General Holder.

Must we wait for a complete economic collapse to regain our unalienable rights?

Maybe it's high time we all stood up and told our government that we're pooped at being beaten and jailed in order that unconscionable Transnational Corporations, and their Media Enablers, can continue to abuse, addict and poison us for obscene profits.

"I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you."

- Friedrich Nietzsche
