Newts and Other Reptiles

So how can folks who only tolerate "born again Christian" (BAC) people vote for a man just because he says he has been redeemed? How can they trust a man who has lied to at least two wives and maybe his third "Good Wife"?

Newt (the reptile) Gingrich was cheating on his cancer ridden first wife, while holding Bill Clinton's feet to the fire concerning Monica Lewinsky. Then he married his second wife, who we found out last week refused his suggestion of an open marriage with his mistress who is now his third wife. What a soap opera. The third Mrs. Gingrich better have gotten Newt to sign a pre-nup.

Rick Santorum better watch it, too. There are many BACs that don't consider Roman Catholics to be Christian, and remember Mormons are a cult.

So that leaves Ron Paul. He's a Methodist or a Baptist, so I guess that's OK.

What I still can't understand is how BAC voters can consider an out and out hypocrite for the highest job in the land. Gingrich is a liar, an adulterer, a home wreaker, and a poor loser. He is arrogant and mean spirited. What kind of Godly attributes are these?

I submit, that in the final analysis, Republican BACs will vote for almost anyone if they think they can beat President Obama. They will even vote for a slimy, cold blooded reptile named Newt for president.

How desperate is that?

Your second to last paragraph is also a fairly accurate description of Bill Clinton's peccadillos, as well, while he was in office. Odd, that I do not remember you calling him names when all that occurred during his presidency. Also, we are all supposed to be polite and respectful of others in our comments in this newspaper, yet the writers, be they writers of editorials or blogs are allowed to call others "slimy, cold-blooded reptiles." You are entitled to that opinion, but I would suggest that in order to live up to the standards this paper expects of its respondents, you should strive for a more respectful way of stating that you do not support Gingrich as a candidate. You're a Democrat and we get it, Enid, do you? I'm sure all hell would be raised if someone wrote in to the paper and called Obama what you called Gingrich. Be polite.
