Slings and Arrows

Posted Friday, March 9, 2012, at 3:12 PM

We've got a problem right here in Eureka Springs and it's called "setting up a teacher for dismissal". Mila Floro seems to be the latest target in a string of accusations emanating from the high school hierarchy.

Floro was put on suspension and then arrested for alleged stealing of funds amounting to $2,210. These funds are not district funds, but donations by parents to the East Lab. And from what I understand can be accounted for by a parent in charge of keeping the financial records for the Lab.

My reliable source says all withdrawals with a co-signer were on the "up and up". There was never any question as to where the money was going or who was handling transactions. As to Floro admitting she had stolen the money, that is a big, fat lie.

It looks as if Floro is on someone's "smelly list" and she wouldn't be the first to suffer the slings and arrows of misguided administrators.

I'm sure many of you remember Kathy Remenar's treatment by last year's superintendent and school board. Well, it looks like the injustice goes on.

If you want to be of support to Mila Floro, her hearing will be Monday March12, 2012 at the Berryville Court House at 10:00 AM. My source tells me we will not be able to sit in the court room since it is a closed hearing. That, in itself, seems fishy.

I'm Enid. No, not the town in Oklahoma, but a transplant to Eureka Springs from Minneapolis fourteen years ago. I'm a writer, journalist and sometime artist. My real love is expressing my opinions on almost any subject, as you have seen in my many letters to the Editor of The Lovely County Citizen over the years. Now, I'm happy to say that I will be writing a blog titled In a Twist for your amusement, amazement or commiseration. Thanks for giving me a read.
