Sticks and Stones Could be a Career Changer

Posted Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 5:02 PM

Rush Limbaugh has finally gotten his "comeuppance". His sponsors (over 140 at last count) are leaving his radio program like the proverbial rats leaving a sinking ship and it's about time.

Limbaugh's apology was about as sincere as any other flannel mouthed, stuff shirt we have heard in the past that ate way too much shoe leather for lunch.

Sincere is the key word here. Limbaugh's only interest is saving his phony, baloney job. Sincerity has never been his long suit.

Excuses seem to work better for Limbaugh. Such as, he was only being "humorous" when he chose some obscene words to describe the young law student, Sandra Fluke. If those vitriolic words, shouted into the microphone are supposed to be funny, Limbaugh has a very warped sense of humor.

What if a woman reporter was to call Limbaugh an obese misogynist? How would he feel about that label? And those words aren't nasty but most likely the truth, whereas, his claims about Ms. Fluke's demands were assumptions. She wasn't asking for her employers to pay for her love life; she was asking for women's health coverage in which birth control pills are often prescribed as a regulator for menstrual issues.

No, Rush, I think most folks are finally tired of your loud mouthed, accusatory comments. It's time to look for another job away from the airwaves. Maybe, you could lead a recovery group for women haters provided you graduated from it first. Or, you could just go home, step inside and shut the door for a good long while.

I'm Enid. No, not the town in Oklahoma, but a transplant to Eureka Springs from Minneapolis fourteen years ago. I'm a writer, journalist and sometime artist. My real love is expressing my opinions on almost any subject, as you have seen in my many letters to the Editor of The Lovely County Citizen over the years. Now, I'm happy to say that I will be writing a blog titled In a Twist for your amusement, amazement or commiseration. Thanks for giving me a read.
