Such Good TimesPosted Friday, April 27, 2012, at 3:00 PM
Vacations are the best. Especially when you visit loved ones who are so far away.
We traveled out to see our California Girl and our two CA grandkids during the last three weeks and had such a good time. We landed in San Francisco on the first leg of our tour and spent three wonderful days in that great city on the bay. We stayed in the Harbor Court Hotel for the third time, where we had a view of the Bay Bridge from the 6th floor. The Harbor Court was built in the 1920s and has a charming art deco lobby and lounge. It's a bit expensive but well worth it. We rented a car on our fourth day in CA and traveled sixty miles north to Sebastopol in Sanoma County, home of the wine vineyards and the Redwood trees. Our daughter lives there in a hundred year old farm house. Carla was home due to a work related injury, so we had plenty of time to catch up with her. She works in the landscaping business and was suffering from tendonitis. While we were visiting, her orthopedist recommended that she look for another line of work, otherwise, she would continue to suffer more wrist problems plus other skeletal damage. Luckily, she landed a job with a marine supplier as his office manager which capitalizes on her bookkeeping skills as a banker for eight years, and her many other office abilities. Of course we need to mention our grandkids. Jessie is our only granddaughter and is eleven years old. She plays the saxophone in her school band and is in the drama club. She has a leading role in her school play. Jess is tall, at five feet two inches in height and wears a size seven shoe. Hank is our CA grandson and will turn seven on May 20th. He is an artist and has a droll sense of humor. He takes after his grandfather, Carl, and loves puns. The kids were so good, very little screaming in the house and no fighting. Of course, we hadn't seen them since last year, so that made a great difference in maturity. After thirteen days with the CA kids, we drove back to San Francisco for one more night. This time we stayed at the Hyatt Regency of Mel Brooks' "High Anxiety" fame. We flew out the next day and landed in Tulsa where we picked up our car. We arrived back at Swartzwald at 10:30 PM on April 24th safe and sound
It's mighty nice to travel, but it's so good to be home, again |
