Carol Dickie's paintings are just gorgeous. She puts high intensity hues, like purple and apple green, in her landscape palette. The color plays are just sumptuous. Her brushwork is varied and well chosen to the task. In a Colorado landscape, washes illumine the deep spot in a mountain stream while the surface water is illustrated in flowing curvilinear chalk strokes. I hope you can see as many of her paintings a possible. Her show at the Real Log Home was elegant and successful as far as sales and general agreement by all lucky enough to have attended that here is a very good artist.

Lisa Bauer has taken an interesting turn in her latest painting. At Eureka Fine Art she has a new dream scape painting alongside her near photo realist paintings. Once Upon a Dream ignores the traditions of her well known style in favor of emotive, less conventional placements of her picture plane elements. An early-American simplicity in the composition and a fantasy inspired lion in the grass frame the central forefront young woman, the heroine of this dream.

Carol Peacock has once again wowed and amazed her admirers with a milky white palette in Muses, a 30 x 72 inch oil on canvas now at Studio 62. Her spirit guides, so beguiling in her rich palette of reds, reappear in tones of white and gold. Crystal Waters, the new store at 7 Basin Springs Avenue has the second of Carol's white toned paintings. The third is to be found at Peacock Gallery.

The whimsical, intriguing paintings of Sherry Young can be seen at Eclectic Edge. If you've not acquainted yourself with the recurring characters to be found in these drawings, paintings and prints, you might discover that her creatures are endearing and elusive all at once.

Al Hooks continues to use bold color choices that capture the imagination. My favorites are of a water tower in Rogers and of a recording studio in Memphis. Although it can be hard to trust a painting that makes you want it so much, these hot paintings remain interesting after all the hoopla has died away.

I'm happy to report there is a chalk painting of mine in the beautiful Hooks Gallery for you to see titled Diversity.

Dixie Westerman has original felt pen drawings at Iris in the Basin Park. A medium that allows no mistakes or missteps, these originals of rural landscapes and Eureka Spring street scapes are super good. Dixie's graceful hand compliments the spell Mother Nature casts on her admirers.

Robert Glick paints abstracts and abstracts with figurative elements. What I like about his work is the boldness of the attack as well as the inscrutability of each piece. They do not reveal themselves too quickly.
