The Arkansas Governor's Council on Fitness is currently accepting nominations for the 2008 Leadership in Physical Fitness Awards. Throughout Arkansas, organizations and individuals who have helped promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyles are currently being sought for recognition in the following categories: Corporate, Government Agency, Individual, Group, Senior, Health and Fitness Club, School or School District, Physical Educator and new this year, Trails.

A Leadership in Physical Fitness award winner is:

* An outstanding individual or organization that demonstrates a commitment to the promotion of physical activity and health.

* An outstanding individual or organization that serves as a role model epitomizing personal health and fitness and demonstrating enjoyment of activity and sportsmanship.

Individuals or organizations interested in applying for an award (or nominating an individual or organization) can obtain information and requirements online from the Arkansas Governor's Council of Fitness web site www.arkansasfitness.com or call (501) 280-4168. The nomination deadline is August 8, 2008.

The 2008 Leadership Awards will be presented at a ceremony on September 5 in Little Rock.
