Mary Flower

Eureka's most alternative venue for extraordinary music, the House Concert Series at the Unitarian Church, will present Mary Flower, Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 17 Elk St.

Delighting in both the intricately syncopated Piedmont fingerpicking style and her own deeply bluesy lap-slide guitar way, Flower is widely admired for her crystal-clear vocals and guitar mastery. She is the only woman in history to place twice in the top three at the legendary national Fingerpicking Guitar Championships. With six CDs to her credit, she commands respect and elicits delight on both sides of the Atlantic.

The House Concert opens its doors at 7 p.m. and Mary will begin performing at 7:30. The gig is multi-generational and smoke and alcohol-free. They promise they'll have you home by 10 p.m.

You'd be a blooming idiot to miss this Flower.
