ES Folk Festival turns 60 Ø This weekend's 60th annual Eureka Springs Original Folk Festival will offer a stick-to-your-ribs buffet of some of the best folk music being performed in America today. The Queens Contest Wednesday, the Riders in the Sky Kids' Show and Cowboy Show in the Aud on Thursday, the Folk Songwriters Contest on Saturday in Basin Spring Park, the Folk Festival Parade through downtown, music in Basin Spring Park all Saturday afternoon and headliners Odetta and Trout Fishing in America with opening acts The Carolina Chocolate Drops and Chris Smither -- how's that for a folk-festival menu? Like appetizers and desserts, other amazing folk music performers will be scattered around town before and after the headline Auditorium shows. The Maybelles will perform in the subterranean Gem beneath the Auditorium's main stage on Friday, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, beginning at 6:30. The Maybelles will also entertain at the New Delhi Cafe, Saturday from 8:30 to midnight and Sunday from 5:30 to 9:30. Gayle de la Kruse (The Rose of New Orleans), Melody Johnson and Special Guests will entertain discerning diners at The Bavarian Inn & Restaurant on Friday and Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. Lucky festival fans in Basin Spring Park on Saturday will be treated to the amazing talents of Emily Kaitz,, Greg Klyma, Mountain Sprout and Michael McGinty. After the festival wraps, join Truck Stop Honeymoon at Chelsea's or Jon Seaman high atop the Wagon Wheel Tavern at Ollie's on Sunday. The Folk Festival, like a lot of its fans and stars, may be about ready to join AARP, but this kind of musical fun has been echoing off Ozark mountains for a lot longer than that. What Happens in Vegas Ø Tickets are now on sale for What Happens In Vegas, a musical revue set for the Aud on Oct. 19 and 20. The voices that made Las Vegas "The Entertainment Capital of the World" will be evoked by impressionist Randy Burch, who will front a big-jazz band sound extravaganza. His act will include tributes to Frank, Dean, Sammy, Elvis, Bobby Darin, Tom Jones, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and many more. Tickets are $28 and available on-line at www.theticketplace.org or by calling (888) 855-7823. -- Vernon Thursday, Oct. 11 H * Auditorium: Folk Festival Kids Concert with Riders in the Sky, 1:30 p.m., and, Cowboy Show with Riders in the Sky, 7:30 * Basin Park Hotel Balcony: John DeHoyos, noon-3 & 5-8 p.m. * Cathouse Lounge: Mountain Sprout, (Pornobilly), 8 p.m. * Chelsea's: Greg Klyma * Eureka Live Underground: Country with DJ Rob * Jack's Place: The Riff Raff Band, 7 p.m. * Michael's Center St. Pub & Grill: Ladies' Night, (Co-Ed) * New Delhi Cafe: Open Jam * Shawbee's Big Dawg Saloon: Ladies Night Friday, Oct. 12 H * Auditorium: The Maybelles in the Gem, 7 p.m., and, Folk Festival Concert with The Carolina Chocolate Drops opening for Odetta, 8 p.m. * Basin Park Hotel Balcony: Fish Fry with The Hogscalders, noon-3 & 6-9 p.m. * Bavarian Inn & Restaurant: Gayle de la Kruse, Melody Johnson and Special Guests, 5-8 p.m. * Cathouse Lounge: Will Scott, 8 p.m. * Chelsea's: Mountain Sprout, (Pornobilly) * Coop Dog's Hog Shack at Anglers' Grill: Rachel Fields * Eureka Live: Piano Bar, 6-9 p.m. * Grand Central Hotel Grand Taverne: Arkansas Red, (Jazz Guitar), 6-9 p.m. * Henri's: Karaoke with Tiny, 9 p.m. * Jack's Place: Blue Moon * Lumberyard Bar & Grill: Dance with DJ Tic, 7-11 p.m. * New Delhi Cafe: John DeHoyos, 6:30-9:30 p.m. * Rowdy Beaver: Gera & Black & Blues, (Jazzy Blues and Rock & Roll), 8 -11 p.m. * Shawbee's Big Dawg Saloon: Karaoke with the Big Dawg, 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 H * Auditorium: The Maybelles in the Gem, 6:30 p.m., and, Folk Festival Concert with Chris Smither opening for Trout Fishing in America, 8 p.m. * Basin Park Hotel Balcony: John DeHoyos, noon-3 & 6-9 p.m. * Basin Spring Park: Folk Songwriters' Contest, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Emily Kaitz, 1, Folk Festival Parade, 2, Greg Klyma, 3, Mountain Sprout, 4, and Michael McGinty, 5 * Bavarian Inn & Restaurant: Gayle de la Kruse, Melody Johnson and Special Guests, 5-8 p.m. * Cathouse Lounge: Greg Klyma, 8 p.m. * Chelsea's: Hosty Duo * Eureka Live: Piano Bar, 6-9 p.m. * Henri's: Karaoke with Tiny * Jack's Place: Blue Moon * Lumberyard Bar & Grill: Dance with DJ Tic, 9 p.m. * Michael's Center Street Pub: Mountain Sprout, (Pornobilly), 8 p.m. * New Delhi Cafe: Mike Henkel with Michelle Levy, 5-8 p.m., and, The Maybelles, 8:30-midnight * Rowdy Beaver: Live Music, 7 p.m. * Shawbee's Big Dawg Saloon: Karaoke with the Big Dawg, 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 H * Basin Park Hotel Balcony: Rachel Fields, noon-3 p.m.& 5-8 * Chelsea's: Truck Stop Honeymoon, (all ages, no smoking), 4 p.m. * Eureka Live Underground: Football * Michael's Center St. Pub & Grill: Open Jam * N.
