Vernon Tucker

At one time in the 60s, "tearing down the house" was about the highest praise given to a really hot band and "looking for a new, hip joint" meant trying to find a hot nightclub.

Forty years later, a lot of us may soon be looking for "new, hip-joints" and the closest we may get to "tearing down the house" is helping Julie Ballance clear the charred remains of her modest mountain cabin from its sooty foundation on Saturday, Nov. 17, beginning at 10 a.m.

Julie's cabin burned beyond repair a couple of weeks ago. In the finest Eureka Springs tradition, friends, neighbors and, probably, people she's never laid eyes on before will arrive with weapons of minor destruction, work boots and gloves for a day of unrepentant mayhem at her homeplace near Beaver Dam.

The Easton Posse, June and Joe, will flip burgers and twirl hotdogs for all who want to pitch in. Please give them a call at 253-7110 so they'll know how many patties it takes to fill a hungry crowd bent on shared resurrection by all-out demolition.

For directions, check out the posters around town, visit jeast151@earthlink.net or call Joe or June.
