The Krewe of Krazo will open the 2008 Mardi Gras season with a King's Day Party, Sunday, Jan. 6 beginning at 3 p.m. at the Rowdy Beaver.

  The Krewe will introduce the Royal Court and outgoing and incoming Eureka Gras Kings and Queens. The party will offer light snacks, Mardi Gras jazz music and everyone is invited to get a slice of the Krewe's King Cake.

  This year's Eureka Gras will be expanded to cover six days of revelry. The celebration will begin on Thursday, Jan. 31 with a Coronation Gala. Friday will feature the Masquerade Ball. Saturday will be highlighted by the Krazo's Mardi Gras Parade followed by costume contests at the Art Colony. Sunday will offer a Jazz Brunch and the Gran Prix Waiters Race is set for Monday. On Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras Day, the Krazo Second Line Pub Krawl will wind its way through downtown.

  Pub Krawl second-liners will be invited to decorate an umbrella on the spot and strut to second-line New Orleans Jazz music.
