Lively Entertainment ~ Rhythm & News

Vernon Tucker

* Incorporating elements of swing, European cabaret, tango, samba, polka, waltz, theater and black humor, among others, Little Jack's musical world is truly indescribable, at least succinctly.

With a cataclysmic ensemble of jazz-rooted musicians and a body of songs celebrating everything from co-dependency to Frank Sinatra as Creator, the slouching ennui of last century's end to Freud's apocryphal last words, the megalomania of the Me Generation to a eulogy for Jack Kerouac, Melody is a true original.

This is not Jack & his Young Turks' first visit to Eureka, and hopefully not their last. They show up every year or three and it's the only band I absolutely will not miss. A nighttime dance in Basin Spring Park with these guys is an out-of-this-world trip guided by world-class, if deeply weird, musicians. Departure is set for 8 p.m., Friday. Hop on board!
