The Phosphenes are one of Fayetteville's favorite new bands, and the funk/folk duo will play at the Pied Piper Cathouse Lounge Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight. They are an acoustic band that plays a variety of songs, covers and originals.

Chris Puente is giving a bonus performance at the Pied Piper on Sunday, from 2 -- 4 p.m. Steve Schlemmer reviewed him and had this to say: "Puente live is the next best thing to going back in time to hear how our forefathers (OK, foremothers, too) would have entertained us on the front porch of that ol' farmhouse."

Also new this week, The Art Colony will have live music, 3 Penny Acre starts them off Friday, followed by Mountain Sprout, local favorite, on Saturday.
