Eulah "Dude" Blanchard, 80, died Sept. 6 at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kan. Blanchard was born July 8, 1926 in Eldon, Mo. to Charles C. and Georgia Scott Slavens.
She lived in Overland Park for many years before moving to the Eureka Springs area where she and her beloved husband, Charlie Blanchard, operated the Busch Rock Shop from 1972 to 1991. Dude was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her grandson Scott Bain, her brother Charles Slavens and her sisters, Oma Woolley, Helen Lee and Anna Blacksher.
She is survived by her son Donald "Leroy" Bain and wife Teresa of Louisburg, Kan.; granddaughters, Amanda Rhoads, Ellen Bain, Jerene Bain, all of Louisburg, Kan.; and great grandchildren, Desireé Bain, Taylor Bain and Xandra Rhoads.
She is also survived by her sisters, Sylvia Buckner of Eureka Springs, Nellie Brandon of Kansas City, Kan., Georgia Wrigley of Harrisonville, Mo.; and her step children, Sue Blanchard of Col., Patti Ahl of Sheridan, Wyo. and Bill Blanchard of Billings, Mont.
We will miss her quick smile and laughter. Mom (Memaw), you were the best!
Funeral services were held Sept. 9 at Wilson & Son Funeral Home of Louisburg, Kan. followed by burial at Louisburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans in care of Wilson & Son Funeral Home, P.O. Box 669, Louisburg, KS 66053.
