Gary (Ratley) Standing Bear, 54, of Clarksville, Tenn., died Friday, Jan. 19, at the home of his cousin, Loretta M. Stacey.
Graveside services were held Jan. 29 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West in Hopkinsville, Ky., with Pastor Gene Johnson officiating. Sykes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He was born March 9, 1952, in Emporia, Kan., son of the late John Ratley and Dorothy May Thouvenell. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara A. Ratley.
He grew up in Iola, Kan., and was employed by Master Construction Electrical and Plumbing. He was a member of the Native American Catholic Mission. He lived at Holiday Island and Eureka Springs for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Ann Standing Bear; sons, Jonathan Ratley and Garrett Ratley, both of Kansas; a brother, Larry Ratley of Kansas; and a sister, Marliyn F. Williamson of Cadiz, Ky. Other survivors include four cousins, 10 nephews and a niece.
Members of the military served as pallbearers. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
