Herman Alvin "Bud" Stoppel

Herman Alvin "Bud" Stoppel, 76, of Fayetteville, formerly of Eureka Springs, died March 30 in Fayetteville.

He was born Sept. 12, 1930 in Gaskin Switch, near Eureka Springs, the son of Herman and Mary (Hilgenberg)?Stoppel.

He was a fishing guide and served in the Army during the Korean War. He held a state fishing record for many years.

He is survived by one son, Jerry Stoppel of Fayetteville; three sisters, Lola Sue Walwick of Oceanside, Cal., Trudy Merrill of Medford, Ore., and Helen Moses of Berryville; three grandchildren, Zack, Misty, and Jeremy; a host of other relatives, friends, and fishing buddies, and his dogs Lucky and Booter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Manfred Lawrence Stoppel, also Frances (Johnston) Stoppel.
