Mildred Masters, a resident of Eureka Springs, was born Dec. 7, 1928 in Wheatley, a daughter of Bernard and Ebb (Miller) Bruce. She died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, in Eureka Springs at the age of 78.
Mildred was an elementary school librarian. She also worked at the libraries of the University of Arkansas and Mercer University in Atlanta, Ga. She graduated from the University of Arkansas Department of Home Economics. She was also a national winner of home economics 4H and family planning. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Eureka Springs.
On June 4, 1950 she married Gene Masters, who survives her of the home. She is also survived by two sons, David Masters of Hull, Ga., and Gene P. Masters of Madison, Wis.; two daughters, Anne Shepherd of Sugar Hill, Ga., and Karen Masters of Eureka Springs; one sister, Carolyn Ward of Rogers; and three grandchildren, Wes Shepherd, Jack Masters and Patrick Masters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Ebb Bruce; four brothers; and one sister.
Memorial funeral services were held on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Eureka Springs with Stan Adams officiating. Online condolences may be sent to the family at <nelsonfuneral.com>.
