Art Colony to offer VW exhibit, Saturday

The artists of The Art Colony will celebrate the 15th annual Volkswagen Festival with an "Altered States" exhibit of VW-themed artwork, Saturday, Aug. 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. at 185 N. Main St.

The exhibit will feature a whimsical series of oil paintings of VW bugs created by local artist Jack Miller.

Other VW-themed art work is being created by watercolorist Jerri Stevens, stained-glass artist Cathy Harris of the Harris Gallery, antler carver Antler Dan and stained-glass artist Maureen Stanton Alexander. Pottery, sculpture, jewelry and etchings will also be exhibited by Colony artists.

Refreshments will be served and the limited edition "Bug" t-shirt "Moonlight Drive" will be debuted for signing by Miller. Exclusive prints of the painting will also be available at Saturday's exhibit.

The Art Colony of Eureka Springs is comprised of eight buildings of working artists' studios which represent a wide variety of art, styles and techniques. Visitors are invited to watch Colony artisans create original works in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
