Step into the season with Ozarks Chorale concerts

Friday, November 2, 2007

Buy any kind of tunes you like at the store; they can't hold a candle to live music, and the most powerful music experience comes from hearing a choir sing. The 60-voice-strong Ozarks Chorale is warming up those high and low notes for their seasonal series of concerts, and their repertoire is more diverse than you think.

The group is made up of women and men of all ages, and their concerts can include jazz, gospel, pop, and even popular culture music from musical theater or movie soundtracks. Of course, they sing the classics, such as Handel's Messiah, and music by Brahms, Bach and beyond.

In November, check out the Ozarks Chorale on Sat., Nov. 17 for the ‘Sounds of the Season' concert, 7:30 p.m., at the Holiday Island Clubhouse, just north of Eureka Springs in the community of Holiday Island. For the ultimate in yuletide entertainment, grab tickets for the ‘Old Fashioned Christmas' concert on 7:30 p.m., Sat., Dec. 8 at the City Auditorium. Both are stellar performances by some of the best classical voices in the area, so treat yourself to a time-honored tradition and sing ‘Hallelujah!'

Tickets for each concert are $10. Tickets to the Old Fashioned Christmas show are available at the Auditorium box office. For more info or tickets, call (479) 253-7744 or visit
