Forget the fuss and spend Thanksgiving in Eureka Springs

Friday, November 2, 2007

Tired of slaving over a hot stove to prepare a sumptuous banquet on Thanksgiving, only to have Uncle Fred fall asleep in the mincemeat pie? Lock the kitchen up this year and spend Turkey Day weekend here in Eureka Springs, where dinner is a phone call away and the shopping awaits. Enjoy a full Thanksgiving feast on Nov. 22 without the worry, stress, or Uncle Fred, then go for a walk through downtown and work off some of that dinner with a little early shopping. Or, just enjoy the sights and save the shopping for Friday among the unique boutiques, galleries and shops in historic downtown and around town, far away from the overheated, super-crowded big box stores. Filling out that gift list will be a breeze, and even those cousins who hate everything will send you thank-you notes when you find the perfect present just for them.

On Friday, Nov. 23, take the little ones to Basin Spring Park for Santa in the Park, and let them whisper their wish lists in his ear. You might just get a heads-up on the gifts that will make them squeal with joy on Christmas morning. For more info and times on Santa in the Park, call the Greater Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce at (479) 253-8737.
