About 400 runners from the region and across the country will converge on Eureka Springs March 8.
The event is sponsored by the Eureka Springs Rotary Club and benefits ECHO, the Eureka Springs Free Health Clinic.
For those interested in participating, the 10K course offers scenic hillside views of hardwood forests and historic homes and businesses in the historic loop. It features flat, fast, ridge-running stretches as well as plenty of very challenging hills. The two-mile run and two-mile walk cover some of the same ground as the 10K. Races begin and end at the Inn of the Ozarks, the host hotel. The starter's gun will go off at 9 a.m.
Victorian Classic weekend festivities begin with a Wine & Cheese Social, 4-6 p.m. Friday, March 7 at the Inn of the Ozarks Convention Center. Pre-registration packet will be available.
Following the race, the Souper-Soup Luncheon, also at the Convention Center, spotlights soups and other culinary creations from local restaurants. The benefit for the Eureka Springs Historical Museum is open to spectators as well as participants.
Awards will be offered to the top three finishers in these categories: Overall male/female, Masters male/female, and Five Year Age Brackets (up to 75) male/female. Awards will also be given to the top 10 male and female runners, and medals will given for all finishers 12 and under in the 2 Mile Run and 2 Mile Walk. A variety of door prizes will also be drawn during the Awards Ceremony. T-shirts plus well-stocked goodie bags will be given to the first 400 entrants. Blakeley Wilson has designed the Victorian Classic artwork that will be featured on the T-shirt.
Advanced entry fees are: $20 (over 18) and $15 (18 and under) if received by March 7th. Day of race entry fee is $25 (over 18) and $20 (18 and under.)
