Coming up in May
Throughout the month of May, Eureka Springs celebrates art. In typical Eureka style, art spills out of the galleries, into Basin Park, yards, and sidewalks.
May brings the Spring Art and Yard Art contests, and two wonderful parades.
The ARTrageous Parade on May 3 is a joyous celebration of the artistic spirit, and should not be missed. The ARTcar parade on May 24 will be memorable, too.
The 40th season of the Great Passion Play begins on May 2 at 8:30 p.m. The play will introduce a new script and new scenes this year.
The weekend of May 2-4 will feature an arts and crafts fair at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. War Eagle Mill has its spring crafts show the same weekend.
From noon to 5 p.m. on May 4, Books in Bloom is a pleasant and sophisticated gathering on the grounds of the Crescent Hotel. This garden party celebration for writers and readers has been established by the Carroll and Madison Public Library Foundation to promote the value of books and reading. The Festival provides an opportunity for the public to meet authors and to hear them speak about their work and various aspects of writing and publishing.
The White Street Walk, on the evening of May 16, focuses on the galleries and working studios on White Street, part of the Historic Loop. The casual and comfortable atmosphere gives visitors a real feel for the Eureka Springs experience.
Blues weekend, from May 29 through June 1, wraps up the month in style. The blues will rule, at free performances in Basin Park, and at music venues all around town.
