Lenore Marion Richey

  Lenore Marion Richey of Rogers died on Friday, May 9. She was born Dec. 13, 1920, in Mooreville, Miss. to Henry Coyt Marion and Mattie Ann Whiteside.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Dale James Richey, a professor of microbiology at the University of Georgia; her daughter, Karen Richey; and son, Peter Richey.

  Survivors include her son Jan Richey and wife Becca, grandchildren Anna (and Brian) Thiele and Matthew (and Cindy) Richey, great-grandson Everett Richey, her son Rodny Richey and wife Faye, granddaughter, Kelly Richey, and her son-in-law George White of Rogers.

  Mrs. Richey earned her master's degree in library science and was a librarian at the University of Georgia.

  She was active for more than 30 years in the Friendship Presbyterian Church in Athens, Ga., where she served as an Elder. In her late 60s, Richey spent four years in Nigeria with SIM on an interdenominational missionary team.

  A funeral service was held Sunday, May 11 at the Holiday Island Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Miss Clare Kelley officiating. A graveside memorial service will take place May 17 at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Athens, Ga.
