EUREKA SPRINGS -- A civil case being appealed from Eureka Springs District Court was transferred to criminal court on July 7.
The case involves Eureka Springs authority over electrical and plumbing work done last August at a residence on Singleton Street owned by Chuck Wofford.
Wofford, who was licensed for such work out of state, faces charges by the city of performing electrical work and plumbing without a license or permit, inspecting and testing electrical wiring, and failing to pay an inspection fee.
In November, Wofford was found not guilty of violation of Arkansas' fire prevention and plumbing codes and subsequently appealed the guilty verdict on other charges.
Circuit Clerk Ramona Wilson expressed puzzlement at the transfer of the case to criminal court, pointing out the case involved neither theft nor DWI.
The case is scheduled to go to trial in late October.
Also on Monday, Shawn Michael Adamson of Eureka Springs pleaded guilty to fraudulent use of a credit card and was placed on three years supervised probation with 90 days in jail and credit for time served in the Carroll County Detention Center.
Between July and September last year, Adamson charged about $12,000 on a wedding planner's credit card.
Andy Brian Todd of Eureka Springs pleaded guilty to a fourth DWI, an unclassed felony, and misdemeanor refusal to submit to a chemical test, driving with a suspended license due to an earlier DWI, driving left of center and driving without liability insurance.
He was given a four-year prison sentence with two years suspended and transfer to a regional correction facility where he will undergo a substance abuse program.
Charges were dismissed against Bart McCord of Eureka Springs for methamphetamine, assault, false imprisonment, intimidation and domestic battery, due to unavailability of witnesses.
McCord was arrested after a 911 call from a woman who alleged McCord threatened her with a rifle in June 2007.
He was arrested again that October when the woman alleged McCord restrained and injured her and forced her to sign a retraction about the earlier charges.
The woman stated she was pregnant at the time and McCord took her at gunpoint from a residence in Missouri.
