Mable V. (Williams) Marlin, of Eureka Springs, was born June 2, 1921 to Pearl and J. Sam Williams in Springfield, Mo. She was educated in the Springfield school system, Greenwood High School and was a graduate of Drury College, in Springfield. She taught school for four years in the Springfield school system.
In 1947, Mable married Jackson Matthews and has one surviving daughter, Martha Parnell of Rocheport, Mo. She was employed for 23 years by the Springfield/Greene County Public Libraries.
In 1976 Mable married Leland Marlin of Eureka Springs, where she made her home for the rest of her life. Mable was always so grateful for the love and devotion shown to her for many years by her young friends; Denise Capps of Berryville; Cindy and Robert Clark and Donna and Larry Hodge, all of Eureka Springs; Debra Belden of Marian, Iowa; Carolyn Sherwood of Tyler, Texas; and Leslie Brown of Springdale. Private graveside services will be at a later date in Highland cemetery, Springfield, Mo. under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel.
Mable was a devout animal lover all her life, and memorial donations should be directed to The Good Shepherd Humane Society of Eureka Springs.
