Eureka Springs Rotary Club will hold a "Going for the Green" auction Friday, Sept. 12 at the Inn of the Ozarks Convention Center. Refreshments and food will be available beginning at 6 p.m. with the opening of a silent auction. A live auction will start at 7 p.m.. The auctioneer with be Gary D. Cooper, CAI.
"This will be our biggest project during 2008, with the funds going to repair, to beautify, and to further develop the East Mountain Rotary Overlook," explained Dave Baker, chairman. "We are obtaining a survey of the land around the Gazebo, and we are working closely with Bruce Levine, Eureka Parks Superintendent. Other clearing has been done in close proximity and we are hopeful that somehow these areas can be brought closer together through trails and by debris removal," Baker added.
Baker promised: "a tremendous array of unique and practical items for sale with furniture, art, food and/or lodging certificates, tickets, jewelry, gift baskets, tax service, gourmet home-cooked meals, boat cruises, golf packages, airplane rides and advertising among the early favorite items to be auctioned off."

Video gaming club to meet
The Carnegie Public Library will host a meeting of the Eureka Springs Youth Authority, a video gaming club for 7th through 12th graders. Youth are invited to join them in the library annex meeting room on Thursdays from 5:30 to 8 p.m. for evenings of mind-blowing big screen graphics, awesome surround sound, complex demands on dexterity, coordination and problem solving skills, cognitive challenges to linear thinking and pattern recognition and nachos.

Public healing ceremony to be held
The public is invited to join in a revival of the healing traditions of Eureka Springs that date back hundreds of years to when Native Americans used to travel from as far as Canada to be healed at the sacred springs of Eureka.
A healing ceremony will start at 6:30 p.m., Friday, July 25 (the birthday of Masaru Emoto, author of The Healing Power of Water) at Magnetic Springs on Magnetic Springs Road. Local healing energy work practitioners will gather at the site of one of the city's most famous springs, which was particularly known in the late 1800s for healing drug and alcohol addictions that were common in the Victorian era because of the use of narcotics and alcohol in patent medicines.
Attendees are invited to bring drums, other musical instruments, prayers, good intentions, lawn chairs and food to share for a potluck supper that will follow the ceremony. For details, call 253-6963.
EUU to host Justus
The Eureka Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will host Paul Justus for a program titled "The Green Tax Shift" at 11 a.m. on July 27 at 17 Elk St.
Justus is a regional planner. He will discuss the Green Tax Shift as a way to move to an ecologically sound economic system, and in the process escape from recurring booms and busts in the housing market.
Eureka Springs to hold Alateen meetings

The Berryville, Eureka Springs and Green Forest Public Libraries will host appearances by Brian Kinder on Monday, July 28. His musical show of original songs will begin in Eureka Springs at 9:30 a.m., followed by a performance in Berryville at 11:30 and conclude with a show in Green Forest at 2 p.m. He will be joined by his musician and singer wife, Terri Kinder.
Brian and Terri Kinder's concerts for kids are lively and interactive. Combining his guitar and banjo playing talents and his whimsical song writing skills, the couple amuse and entertain children of all ages.
No registration or ticket is required and this free, one-hour, high energy performance is open to children of all ages.
After the performance, all three libraries will recognize the diligence of their young readers and award reading certificates to those who participated in the "Catch the Reading Bug" Summer Reading Program.

Americana Concert rescheduled
The Americana Concert originally scheduled for Thursday, July 31 has been moved to Friday, Aug. 1 in Basin Spring Park for the next Dance in the Park After Dark event.
The featured band is the Hillbenders. For those who were familiar with the Arkamo Rangers, this is their new incarnation with a brand spankin' new spunky sound.

FUMC to hold yard sale
Shoppers are invited to a yard sale, Friday, Aug. 1 and Saturday, Aug. 2 at the First United Methodist Church of Eureka Springs. Various items contributed by members and friends of the church will be on display at 195 Huntsville Road, (Hwy. 23S). New choir robes will be purchased with the proceeds.
ES Hospital to host Lunch & Learn
