Dancing with the stars

These free monthly concerts have been a big hit. Basin Spring Park has just the right atmosphere, with a bandshell high above the crowd, plenty of seating, and room to dance once the music starts moving your feet around.

Sam and the Stylees come from Tulsa, Okla., and they bring a Reggae sound seasoned with soul, roots, world beat, jazz, jam, funk, and rock.

Don't waste time trying to put a label on this group. They play music that makes audiences light up. Their lyrics carry rich messages, too. Their popularity in the Tulsa region has grown with the release of several CDs, starting with "Serious Ting" in 2003.

This band plays to large crowds, and their enchanting instrumentals provide a perfect backdrop for thoughtful lyrics. Their mission, according to the samandthestylees entry on Myspace, is to carry on the traditions from their forefathers with positive messages of freedom, truth, and peace.
