James Rhea Elmore, a resident of Green Forest, was born Aug. 5 in Wichita Falls, Texas, a son of Tommy Lee Elmore and Maribeth (Roberts) Shelton. He died on Wednesday, July 24 at the age of 30.
Elmore was a member of Rule Baptist Church. He graduated from Fayetteville High School. James was an outstanding football player for both Green Forest and Fayetteville High Schools.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Beth and David Shelton of Green Forest; father and step-mother, Tommy Lee and Susan Elmore of Lowell; two sisters, Buffy and husband Clint Howle of Wesley and Phylicia Shelton and partner Trevor Studyvin of Mauriceville, Texas; three aunts, Sue and husband Rusty Butler, Jane Roberts and Louann and husband Steve Smith; one uncle, Johnny Elmore and wife Donna; paternal grandparents, Dorothy Foster, Ed and Maggie Elmore; maternal grandparents, James and Billye Sue Roberts; maternal great-grandmother, Mary Anderson of Green Forest; two nieces, Carson and Claire Howle; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Elbert Foster and one aunt, Dianne Maynard.
Funeral services were held July 30 at Nelson's Green Forest Chapel with Brother Jim Goins officiating. Interment followed in the Rule Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service, Inc.
