In an era of creative marriage proposals, UA law student Brandon Long found a unique way to ask the love of his life to marry him. Casey Struble is pursuing a Master's degree in Theater for Social Change and scheduled to leave to study for a year in London. Determined to pop the question before Struble's departure, Long asked clay artists Laura Waters and Jim Wallace's studio, Paradise Pottery, to create a special wheel-thrown, raku-fired plate with the engraved words "Casey, Will You Marry Me?" on the front, and the engagement date on the back with "Love, Brandon." During the couple's visit to Eureka last Sunday, they visited Paradise Pottery, where the piece was displayed among other works for sale in the gallery. The plan worked. When Struble discovered the special plate, Long dropped to one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. Struble said yes.
