'Barbie Doll' for Veep?

Editor:

Sarah Palin is the perfect poster girl for the Republicans and the religious right.

First off, she looks like a Barbie Doll and waves like a beauty queen, which will garner high marks with middle aged male neocons who have "Madonna/tramp" complexes.

She can shoot a moose and fry it up in a pan which will score points with good old boys. And finally, she can flip flop with the best of the rest of the GOP, e.g. the "Bridge to Nowhere."

Then we've got the religious right. They love Palin because she has cut sex education out of public schools in Alaska, proving that abstinence really works. But does it?

There are hypocrites in all walks of life, but in the last eight years the Republicans seem to have cornered the market on sanctimony.

First Amendment 'venom' should be suppressed

Editor:

I am writing in regard to the letters from Enid Swartz almost every week in the Citizen. I am wondering what she might be holding over the Citizen to get one of these hate-filled letters published.

Everyone has their political favorites and this is one of our freedoms in this beautiful America. But spewing your personal venom on all readers of a local newspaper should not be one of them.

This poor lady could reward herself so much by using a little Christian love on so many people who need help with a good meal, helping with small children, taking a disabled person for a doctor's appointment or just giving someone a hug.

Think about it Enid and throw your ball peen hammer in the trash!

Palin cartoon in poor taste

Editor:

Boy was I wrong a few months ago when I stated something like "I and others in the county were pleased to see the Citizen take a more mainstream approach in their publication of The Lovely County Citizen." Your last week's paper shows again the left wing agenda the Citizen is dedicated to serving.

It would be smart to take note of your recent competition and what almost happened. Competition always has a sobering effect but when you are the only drink in town it is easy to indulge yourself. Whoever is pulling the strings there should pull from both sides if they want to hang around.

I and a great many others who are too timid to say so are appalled at the sexist and degrading cartoons of Sarah Palin in last week's publication. Why haven't you put one of Obama eating watermelon with a caption that says I have experience? You get my point. Neither is respectful or appropriate. You obviously are trying to appeal to your far left readers. Well you may not have noticed but in the last countywide election the conservative right won the county.
