Citizen of the Week

A whole lot of people went out of their way to help their neighbors during the recent ice storm, and the people in charge kept the whole situation from degenerating into chaos. But Carroll County Judge Sam Barr went a step further. He and County Road Foreman James Kelley chainsawed their way through four miles of ice-covered, tree-blocked road to deliver fuel to a county resident whose generator powered her oxygen supply, saving her from a potentially perilous and expensive trip to the hospital. No man ever stands as tall as he who stoops to help another.
