Dorothena Hency, a resident of Berryville, was born Dec. 20, 1924 in Eureka Springs, a daughter of Hal Charles and Elsie Grace (Johnson) Worley. She died on Jan. 25, 2009 at the age of 84.
Dorothena was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God Church in Green Forest. She will be fondly remembered as a wonderful wife and mother, and for the encouragement she provided to many through her ministry of handwritten prayers, notes, cards, gifts and flowers.
On June 15, 1944, she married Wayne Z. Hency, her husband of 64+ years, who survives her. She is also survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dee and Ann Hency of The Woodlands, Texas; two grandsons, Matthew Hency and wife Kelsey of Dallas, Texas, and Jonathan Hency of Chicago, Ill. Additional survivors include two brothers, Charles L. Worley and wife Ray Ann of Berryville, Gerald D. Worley and wife Marilyn of Berryville; one sister, Doretha Stockslager of Harrison; six nephews; one niece; and many blessed friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father and one brother Leo P. (Bub) Worley and his wife Evelyn.
Her life was celebrated on Jan. 31 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville with Rev. Mark Bryant officiating.
