Bob Muhm, of Torrington, Wyo., died in his home on Dec. 19, 2008. Bob was born Nov. 4, 1914, in Neligh, Neb., to John and Jennie Verduin Muhm.
In 1925, he came with his family to Torrington, where he received his education. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the Navy and served during World War II. After three years, he received an emergency discharge to come home to help his mother care for his sister and brothers.
Bob married Betty Lou Stucker May 11, 1941. Three sons were born to this union. Bob was employed by the Citizens National Bank and Trust until 1973, when he resigned and he and Betty moved to Eureka Springs. Bob was vice president of the Bank of Eureka Springs from 1973 to 1981, when he reached retirement age, and he and Betty returned to Torrington.
Bob was a civic booster and was involved in many community activities. During his retirement years, he enjoyed gardening, going to elderhostels, joining in on archeological digging trips and entertaining with fancy roping and cowboy poetry.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; sons John and his wife Margie, Mike and his wife Susan and Dan and his wife Cathy; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his brother, Jim and his wife Jean.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
His family gathered for a celebration of Bob's life. There will be no further services.
