Kenneth L. Stahly, age 80, of Shell Knob, Mo., died on Jan. 18 at the Red Rose Inn in Cassville, Mo.

He was born on April 17, 1928 in Gridley, Ill. to the late Clyde and Lucille Stahly.

In 1948 he joined the Air Force for 14 years. During the Korean War he served in the Philippines. He also was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma, Selfridge Air Force Base, Michigan, London, England, McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey, and Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, where on June 12, 1954 he married Marilyn Dean.

They later fell in love with the Bucks County area in Pennsylvania and moved to the area in 1962. There, he and Marilyn raised, trained and showed Labrador Retrievers and English Springer Spaniels along with field trails and gun dog work. They were charter members of the Waterland Retriever Club.

In 1982, Ken retired from Curtis 1,000 and moved to Eureka Springs where he bought a small coffee and tea shop that Marilyn operated while Ken went into real estate.

They made their final move to Shell Knob, Mo. in 2007. Marilyn preceded him in death on June 6, 2008.

Survivors include one daughter, Susan Munson and her husband Don, of Golden, Mo.; one son, Mark Stahly and his wife Nancy, of Coopersburg, Penn.; one brother, Lonnie Stahly and his wife Donna, of Ravenna, Ohio; two sister-in-laws, Elizabeth Hunt and her husband Don, of Flossmoor, Ill. and Frances Dean of Schaumburg, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Kay Stahly.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Gridley, Ill. Memorials may be made to the Eagle Rock, Golden, Mano Fire Department and may be entrusted to the funeral home. On-line condolences may be made to the family at
