Farbiarz to display commissioned work

Monday, March 30, 2009

There will be a one-time showing of Ranaga Farbiarz' most recent projects on Monday, April 6, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Celestial Windz Harmonic Bizaar at 381 Hwy. 23S.

Farbiarz has been working on a large commission for an international invitational art exhibition that will open at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minn., on April 25. It will be one of 91 pieces by 50 artists on the theme "The Quick and the Dead."

Details are available at http://calendar.walkerart.org/canopy.wac?id=4486.

Last December, Farbiarz was also contracted by Pierre Huyghe, a French video installation and conceptual artist, and his New York gallery representatives, the Marian Goodman Gallery, to create 47 windchimes, tuned to the score John Cage's "Dream," composed in 1948.

This will be the only time the completed piece will be experienced in this manner.

A wine and cheese reception will accompany the event.

Jacqueline Froelich's KUAF report for "Ozarks at Large" on the making of the piece may be heard at www.publicbroadcasting.net/kuaf/news.newsmain?action=article&ARTICLE_ID=1486422&...
