EUREKA SPRINGS -- Music fans received good news this week when it was announced the city will now feature free entertainment in Basin Spring Park seven days a week.

The City Advertising and Promotions Commission (CAPC) has been offering free music in the park for tourists Fridays and Saturdays from noon until 6 p.m. and Sundays from noon until 4 p.m., and those free concerts will continue through October.

The Eureka Springs Downtown Network (ESDN) is now adding to that lineup by providing free entertainment in Basin Spring Park Monday through Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m.

"We're proud and excited to be involved in giving our visitors great, free family entertainment every day of the week," said ESDN Director Jacqueline Wolven. "It's one more reason for folks to come here and enjoy our magical town."

A collaborative effort

The lineup of free entertainment Monday through Thursday is the result of cooperation between the city's local talent, nightly attractions and several non-profit organizations.

The weekday schedule of free entertainment will include The Texans Gospel Show from the Great Passion Play on Mondays, acoustic music from bluegrass to blues by musicians from the Pine Mountain Music Theater on Wednesdays and the music and comedy of P. Nutt and the gang from the Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down on Thursdays.

Tuesday's entertainment will be provided alternately by the Good Shepherd Animal Shelter, the Eureka Springs Preservation Society and Main Stage Creative Community Center.

"This sort of cooperation between public agencies and private businesses and organizations is another fine example of the wonderful cooperation displayed by the citizens of Eureka Springs, said Mayor Dani Joy. "And with the national economy struggling, there couldn't have been a better time for us to give something back to our visitors."
