ESHS actors to premier melodrama
Eureka Springs High School's League of Extraordinary Actors will present the premier performances of the melodrama My Castle You Creep Oct. 30 and 31 at 5:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
The Friday performance will include salad, soup and desert, prepared and served by the students of the Mosaic Cafe under the direction of William Peak. Cost for Friday's performance and dinner will be $10.
On Saturday, the 5:30 start time will assure that Trick or Treaters will be able to get out at an early hour. The play's running time of about 40 to 45 minutes makes it a good vehicle to set the stage for an evening's haunting.
The old-fashioned melodrama is set in the middle of Transylvania. Col. Theodore J. Van Buren has developed a cross between wolfsbane and cotton with the goal of making cotton "King" in Europe. But Count Dracula has other plans. Along the way many familiar "creatures" show up to keep things interesting.
ESHS drama teacher Jerry RunnerSmith wrote the first treatment of the play in the 1980s.
Reservations are required for the limited seating for the Friday night dinner theater. Tickets are $10 for all seats on Friday and may be reserved by calling 981-0266. Tickets for the Saturday performance are $5 and tickets for students and adults over 60 are $3.
