"Inspired by Nature," an art exhibit featuring work by Eureka Springs artists Carol Dickie and Mark Rademacher, is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Dec. 20 at the Main Stage Creative Community Center at 67 N. Main St.
Dickie and Rademacher draw inspiration from nature, particularly that of the Ozark Mountains.
Dickie's interest is in capturing experiences with nature, seeing them as abstractions of color, pattern and texture forming a landscape.
Rademacher creates one-of-a-kind art in clay and wood. His ceramic work is both wheel-thrown and slab built, utilizing a pit firing process.

Johnson gets scholar's award at ATU
Sierra Noell Johnson, daughter of Jenny and Scott Johnson of Eureka Springs, has been awarded a Second Century Scholar Award from Arkansas Tech University beginning with the fall 2010 semester.
Miss Johnson will major in premed/chemistry and music.A senior at Eureka Springs High School, she is a member of the National Honor Society and is a Renaissance card holder and class historian.
Astrology classes offered at The Space
Classes in the language of Astrology are being offered on Thursdays from 8 to 10 a.m. in The Space above Sweet Spring Antiques at the foot of Pine St.

CAPC seeks potters to create pitchers
The City Advertising and Promotions Commission (CAPC) has issued a call to local potters to create pitchers to hold table centerpieces for the Henry Awards Banquet during the 2010 Arkansas Governor's Conference on Tourism, to be held in Eureka Springs in March.
City Parks Department gardener DonE Allen has agreed to create the floral arrangements for the centerpieces.
The CAPC will pay potters $35 for each pitcher, up to a total of four from each artist. Pitchers must be between seven and eight inches tall and the opening at the top may not exceed five inches in diameter.
Those wishing to participate should call Donna Shepard at the CAPC at 253-7333 or email dshepard@eurekasprings.org to obtain a form and return it to her by Dec. 1. After determining how many potters wish to participate, the CAPC will then notify artists of its intention to either purchase or decline to purchase pitchers.
All purchased pitchers will need to be completed and delivered by Jan. 13, 2010.
Santa to visit Basin Spring Park on Friday
Santa Claus will make his traditional stop in Eureka Springs at Basin Spring Park on Friday, Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. to take requests from boys and girls for Christmas.
The stop is sponsored by the Greater Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce and usually lasts for one to one and one-half hours.
The following day, on Saturday, Judge Roy Bean will be taking photos of children with Santa, also at Basin Park.
Democratic Women to meet on Dec. 1
Carroll County Democratic Women will hold its final meeting of the year on Dec. 1 at the Berryville Fire Station at 7 p.m.

Holiday Island Chamber plans fundraiser for fireworks
The Holiday Island Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a fundraiser for its annual Fourth of July fireworks display with a Soup and Salad fundraiser on Tuesday, Dec. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Holiday Island Clubhouse. Cost is $6 and includes soup, bread, dessert and drink.

Two-Hawks to present Christmas concert
The 6th annual Christmas at the Auditorium with John Two-Hawks will take place on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
The concert will feature singer and songwriter Nancy Cooper Maier and will introduce the Benton County School for the Arts Choir, directed by Shelly Odell. Two-Hawks is a platinum award winning Native American flautist.

Tummy Tickers offers $300 in prizes
The Merry Ging-Eureka Christmas returns this year at Tummy Ticklers Kitchen Store, located across from the Eureka Springs Courthouse, with $300 in prizes.
Entrants are invited to create an edible Eureka Springs scene with a size limit of 12 inches by 12 inches by 12 inches. Entries must be edible, except for the base.
Entries will be displayed through the week leading up to the awards. Visitors are welcome to get in on the fun, and check out the offerings for last-minute gifts to brighten someone's kitchen.

Foundation Farm to hold gardening workshops
Foundation Farm will host two workshops in December for those wanting to learn how to grow a winter garden.
The first hands-on workshop, on Saturday, Dec 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will cover low-cost hoop house construction. Participants will build a 100-ft. hoop house, complete with plastic covering. Tuition is $50 or $60 per household and includes a simple organic lunch and detailed information package.
On Saturday, Dec. 19, the workshop will focus on an overview of year-round hoop house production. From 1 to 3:30 p.m., participants will study a complete year plan for hoop house production. A Powerpoint presentation will cover crop choices, time tables, income potential and costs. Tuition is $35 per household and includes a detailed information package.
