to offer Christmas music
Eureka Springs High School and Middle School bands and choirs will perform a concert of seasonal music at 7 p.m, Thursday, Dec. 10, at the Auditorium.
The Eureka Springs Music Boosters and parents of music students will host a bake sale to benefit the public school music programs. Also, music-themed note cards will be available for sale. The note cards are produced from original art work created by Eureka Springs students. The sale of the note cards also supports the public school music program.
Ozarks Chorale
to present Christmas concert
The Ozarks Chorale will present its annual Old Fashioned Holiday Concert at the Eureka Springs Auditorium on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. concluding its 14th year as the premier area chorale.
Under the direction of Dr. C. Myron Flippin, the Chorale will perform old seasonal favorites and several selections from Handel's Messiah, accompanied by an instrumental ensemble of area musicians. Beverly Beard will be at the concert grand piano to accompany the chorale.
B&Bs cookie tour set for Dec. 12
The Alliance of Better Bed and Breakfasts will present its 3rd annual Sweet Treats Cookie Tour on Dec. 12, serving cookies, candies and other treats, complete with recipes.
The self-guided tour wil take place from 1 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are limited to 250.
The event also offers great holiday decoration ideas and a chance to win one of three $100 gift certificates.

Shop with a Cop Hoe Down
set for Saturday
In support of the Shop With a Cop program, the Ozark Mountain Hoe Down in Eureka Springs will host its annual Christmas show with all donations going to the program.
The event, to be held Saturday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m., will be free with donations collected in the lobby.
Lights of Love
Holiday Campaign underway
St. John's Foundation, Berryville, is accepting gifts in support of St. John's Hospice -- Berryville, through the annual Lights of Love Holiday Campaign. Donations may be made in honor or memory of a loved one.
In recognition of one's donation, a special ornament will be placed on the tree, which is visible inside the visitor's entrance of St. John's Hospital -- Berryville.

Westphal book signing
to benefit library
Historian and author June Westphal will sign copies of A Fame Not Easily Forgotten at the Carnegie Public Library on Sunday, Dec. 13, from 1 to 3 p.m.
This second edition of the book Westphal co-authored with Catharine Osterhage in 1970, documents in unprecedented detail Eureka Springs' early history, and has been reprinted in celebration of the Library's 100th anniversary.
Book proceeds will benefit the Library.
Outdoor Alliance
sets annual meeting Dec. 13
Eureka Springs Outdoor Alliance will hold its annual meeting followed by a potluck dinner and bonfire on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 1476 CR 222.
The meeting will start at 4 p.m. with the selection of officers and board members as well as a review of 2009 activities and a look forward to 2010.
All interested in learning more about ESOA and family members are welcome and are asked to bring a side dish to share.

EUU to host Dugger
"Walking the Light" will be the topic of Ron Dugger when Eureka Unitarian Universalist (EUU) Fellowship meets on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. at 17 Elk St.
Dugger will share his expereinces of consciouly working with the Light for more than 20 years.

Methodists announce
Christmas cantatas
First United Methodist Church Choir will celebrate Christmas with two cantatas on Sunday, Dec. 13 at the 10 a.m. service. All are welcome.
"Run, Ye Shepherds to the Light" by Michael Haydn (1737-1807) will be performed first. John Rutter is the composer of the second cantata, "Magnificat" based on Luke 1:46-48.
Julius Stevens and Corey Divine will play trumpets, Fred Mayer and Chrystal Thompson will play strings and Beverly Beard will be the organist.
More Christmas music is planned for Sunday, Dec. 20 at 10 a.m. with Rachel and Larry Brick, and on Christmas Eve at 5:30 p.m. the church will offer carols, candles and communion.
AARP to elect officers
Carroll County Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) will meet Monday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m., in the Holiday Island Clubhouse.
Following the regular meeting, including the election of 2010 officers, the group will be entertained by the Holiday Island Singers directed by Harry Hoffman.
Members and guests are requested to bring a potluck dish to share. Meat will be furnished by the club.

On Monday, Dec. 14, the Arkansas Metaphysical Society will host Frederick Peace who will talk on the subject of "Guided Imagery: Harnessing the Alpha Mind for Relaxation and Creative Visualization."

CSS 'Artist in Residence' benefit, Dec. 15
A benefit to fund Clear Spring School's (CSS) "Artist in Residence" program will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Adrian Frost's residence at 5472 US62W, Apt. A.
The event will feature bagpiper Dave Brooks from England, Adrian Frost, natural builder Jim Luckner of New York, John Stalling and CSS students. Wine and hors d'oeurves will be served.
