Joyce Irene Paxton, a resident of Holiday Island, was born April 23, 1932 in DeSoto, Kan., a daughter of Charles and Viola (Sprouse) Cooper. She died on March 4 in Eureka at the age of 77.
Mrs. Paxton was a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution. Joyce was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by her loving companion, Ray Coleman of Holiday Island; son Eric Bowers of Olathe, Kan.; daughter Lisa and Brad Roche of Roswell, Ga.; son David Bowers of Independence, Mo.; daughter, Kathleen and Kevin Bolling of Lawson, Mo.; son, Kevin and Kelly Paxton of Olathe, Kan.; son, Philip Paxton of Olathe, Kan.; step-daughters Debbie Coleman and Denise (Nesi) Coleman of Eureka Springs; sister Marge Snodgrass of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother Bud Cooper of Parsons, Kan.; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son Charles (Chuck) Bowers; one brother, Harold Cooper; two sisters, Bess Brewster and Mildred Wilson; and one grandchild, Duane Bolling.
Graveside services were held on March 6 at the Eureka Springs Cemetery with Rev. Stan Adams officiating. Interment followed at Eureka Springs Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service, Inc. Memorial donations may be sent to the charity of your choice.
