Owen Kendrick, a resident of Busch, announced recently he is entering the Democratic Party primary election for the office of Carroll County Clerk.

Kendrick, and his wife Kristi, adopted Carroll County following their move from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Kendrick said he intends to improve individual access to the clerk's office. He added that he knows the clerk's office is the primary point of contact for Carroll countians and believes the office should be efficient, transparent, modernized and courteous.

He is actively involved in community service and serves on the boards of the Carroll County Community Foundation, St. John's Hospital, the St. John's -- Berryville Foundation and the Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow. He is a past president and director of the Good Shepherd Humane Society.

Kendrick received a law degree (J.D.) from Tulane University in New Orleans, La. He is an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army, having served on active duty from 1967 to 1970.
